2 NA reviews: Foreplay & Ignite

Foreplay by Sophie Jordan

(Ivy Chronicles: Book 1/3)

{ 3.5/5 stars }

Summary: Foreplay is about a girl named Pepper who has been in love with her best friend's brother Hunter for a long time. She wants him to see her as someone to date, not just his little sister's best friend. She is not very experienced with guys so she wants to get more experienced to prepare for Hunter. So her friends take her to a bar to find the perfect guy to teach her everything she needs to know about Foreplay. Things start to get complicated...

Review: Someone recommended this book to me and I'm glad she did! I probably would have never picked it up otherwise because of the title :/ I really don't like the title but I enjoyed the book! I liked that it was set in college, so we got to see a bit of Pepper's college life and I like the main character and just thought this was an overall cute read! I really liked the character Reece too! Although they had some really cute moments, I found their intimacy to be kind of awkward at times. I kind of cringed when I read the parts where they were learning "foreplay" For this title and the premise of the book, I didn't think there was enough learning going on either. It definitely seemed more one sided. It was just awkward. And I didn't like some of the descriptions of those moments either. I don't read a lot of books with "sexy times" in them (although getting more into the NA genre now) but I've read better where it comes off more natural (such as in Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover). It was still a good NA book to check out and I heard the companion trilogy gets better so I already have the second book, Tease and looking forward to reading that one and the last one, Wild!

Ignite by Lily Paradis

{ 3.5/5 stars }

Summary: Ignite is about a girl named Lauren who inherits her 3 stepsiblings, Camilla, Chase, and Emma after their mother dies. Lauren is only 21 years old and this is a lot to take in. As she is taking care of them, she doesn't know if she can do this - become a parent at 21. With the help of a very good looking neighbor, Dean Powell - Lauren tries to cope with the life she has been given...

Review: Before I started reading this, I was seeing this book a lot on booktube, instagram, and twitter and wanted to check it out! The cover definitely drew me in, it's gorgeous! I really liked this story! I liked how the main character, Lauren was thrown into having to care for her step-siblings - I really liked the kids - Emma is especially adorable :) And of course I liked Dean, he was definitely swoon-worthy! There were a lot of cute moments, and I found myself laughing out loud at times as well! Although at times some things seemed kind of unnecessary to the overall plot and the story definitely left me with some questions! But I know that they will hopefully be answered in Arclight, the sequel which I'm really excited for!! All in all I thought this was a cute story that a lot of people will like and fly through! I definitely recommend this especially for those that love YA/NA cute romantic contemporaries like I do! This was a great debut (still can't believe the author is only 22!!!) and I am really excited to continue reading her work :)

Have you read any of these? Any other books by Sophie Jordan? Do you have any recommendations for good NA books??
